This a wonderful knife in one of my favorite patterns - The Wing. For this knife I started with some very nice Ladder pattern Damascus in our "Blue Steel". The patterns are very nice as you will see as you scroll down further. I also used my favorite handle material of Mammoth Ivory on this knife. This Ivory had wonderful character with the very barky outside and the nice warm creamy ivory underneath.
This picture shows the knife open. You will notice that the back of the blade was carved and filed to give it the raised feather look to go with the handle. Also showing is the lock spring which was filed with even more of the feather design to further the theme.
This is a picture of the other side of the knife to show pattern and handle.
This picture shows the back of the knife. This is one of my favorite aspects of a knife. The filed patterns. I currently offer 5 patterns to help dress up all knives. This one I call "Waves" and the trick is to file it so the pattern gently grows smaller as it reaches the tip. Also, all knives have the same pattern filed on the inside of the knife so that when its open you will see the same pattern on the inside of the knife!
This is a picture of the Thumb opener. These are hand made using pure silver poured into rods. We then cut them on a small lathe, drill them and thread them. A "Seat" is cut into it for the stone to rest in. the sides are then gently and firmly rolled over to hold the stone in place. This one has a Natural Champagne Diamond set in it. You will also notice that the screws heads are each filed so that nothing looks plain on any knife.
