Another thing we offer is nice classic letter openers. These can be made in various shapes and I will hand carve the handles using Rosewood like the example below. If you know a special person and are looking for a special gift, consider one of these. These will be 8" to 10" in length. As I stated above, the handle will be hand carved with the wing pattern or a Dogwood Bloom on the handles. The back of the letter opener as well as the bottom will be hand filed with a nice patten that you can select. The entire piece with be hand polished. These are totally custom pieces and no two will ever look exactly alike. Cost $225
This is one form of filing for the bottom of the handle. The design in this case gets smaller as it gets closer to the blade then transfers into a different design.
All the blades will be hand polished prior to acid treatment. The L6 steel in the blade having a high Chrome content will not etch so the acid reacts with the high carbon steel to reveal the pattern. We also stamp every piece with the mark of "BF" for Beasley's Forge.
This is an example of the Wing which is carved into the Rosewood. The feathers are then counter sunk to add more of a 3-D effect to the design. Next the handles are hand sanded and rubbed out and brightened on a cloth wheel.
This is an example of the hand filing on the back of the Letter opener. This pattern is one I call "Thorns". Other patterns can be used depending on what you want to have done. The tab marked "Create Your own Knife" shows different file pattern you can choose from.
